What To Expect With Therapy

Go Back to New Patient Information

Your First Visit will involve a small packet of paperwork that will provide our clinicians with information regarding your current condition, so please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your appointment time. Items that you should bring with you include your doctor's referral/prescription (if applicable), your insurance card (if applicable), and all information regarding your medical history and the nature of your disability. After completion of your paperwork, a comprehensive evaluation will be performed by a board certified physical therapist. To save time you may choose to download, print, and complete our new patient forms prior to your appointment.

Treatment Begins With a physical therapist performing a customized evaluation of your current condition focusing on identifying the source(s) of your discomfort or dysfunction followed by a customized treatment program for your condition. A customized treatment program typically involves some form of therapeutic exercise and manual therapy. In some cases, modalities may be used to provide pain relief and facilitate appropriate healing. An individualized home exercise program will also be given to you at the end of your first session to aid in your recovery process.

Frequency and Duration of your physical therapy program will depend upon your condition, your body's ability to heal, and your commitment to following the prescribed treatment program. The average treatment period is 2-3 times a week for 4-6 weeks, but after your evaluation, your physical therapist can provide an approximation of the time required and reasonable expectations for your treatments.

Payment Services including insurance questions, should be addressed at the time of your initial visit. Please understand that in all cases the patient is ultimately responsible for complete and timely payment for services rendered. Although medical insurance generally covers physical therapy treatments every insurance plan is unique. We accept many types of insurance plans however we recommend that you check with your insurance carrier to confirm the terms of your particular coverage. Our staff will be glad to assist you in determining your level of benefits, resolving billing issues, and filing common paperwork.
